Q: What components need to be purchased to
implement Ilixis Imaging?
Ilixis Imaging is a client-server
application. A server component (Ilixis Imaging
Server) needs to be purchased to
manage the archival of images and to service the
requests of the users. A client
component (Ilixis Image Console) is also needed on
every computer that participates in
the Imaging solution.
For example, in a 5-user environment
in which 5 PCs are used by 5 users,
1 Ilixis Imaging Server license and 5
Ilixis Image Console licenses needs to be
purchased. |
| |
Q: What server hardware and system software is
required to implement Ilixis Imaging?
Ilixis Imaging is a three tiered
client-server archival and retrieval solution for
images.
It has been designed to require the
minimal requirements in terms of hardware and
system software. The client component
(Ilixis Image Console) communicates with the
Imaging Server using TCP/IP sockets
only. No database connections are required at
the client component. The only
database connection in the solution is the connection
from the Imaging Server to the
database. As such, even a standalone single-user
database type (e.g. MS Access) will
work. However, depending on the load and
number of transactions, a multi-user
database type (e.g. MS SQLServer) may be
more appropriate. |

Q: What is the Ilixis Image Console?
The Image
Console is a stand-a-lone desktop
application to create, scan, view, edit
and manage
images in the desktop. However, it is also used as the front-end
interface to the Ilixis Imaging
solution. |
| |
Q: What image formats does Ilixis Image Console
support?
The Image Console supports the
following image formats. |
| |
Q: What types of scanners does Ilixis Image
Console support?
The Image
Console supports any TWAIN-compliant scanner. Most
scanners are
TWAIN-compliant. Please refer to your
scanner documentation to confirm. |
| |
Q: How does the Ilixis Image Console help me
manage the images on my desktop?
The Image
Console allows you to virtually group images together as
albums. The
images still reside in their original
location. The album only contains a pointer to the
location of the image. You can also
attach remarks to the individual images in the
albums. These remarks allow you to
perform searches using keywords instead of
having to know the filenames of the
images. |
| |
Q: I have purchased Ilixis Image Console, how
do I upgrade from my installed
evaluation copy?
The best method is to uninstall
the evaluation copy and then re-install the licensed
copy. |
